Retaining Structures and Sprayed Concrete

rock anchors
Shanklin – Isle of Wight
We have used our anchoring skills to become specialists in anchored timber retaining structures.

This system has been used over extensive areas of the cliff top promenade on South East coast of the Isle of Wight.

The failed area is re-profiled and then reinforced by a grid of 6.0m anchors before upwardly inclined fin drains are installed.

The timber facing is seated on a lightweight concrete footing and then anchored by additional rock bolts.

The job is finished by filling with a light weight fill.

Sprayed concrete can be combined with rock anchors to create
a structurally strong retaining structure, often where alternative
methods are not so suitable.

When necessary, Vertical Technology will use sprayed concrete to support areas of highly weathered and fractured rock or in the example shown, a collapsing stone retaining wall.
